IN LOVING MEMORY

MEGAN CAME TO PICK UP BRANDENBERG ONE WEEK AGO TODAY, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2007 AT 5:05 AM PDT AT HIS HOME FURTHEIM. HE PASSED WITHOUT PAIN. HE HAD 24 HOURS A DAY NURSES WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES AND I SLEPT NEXT TO HIM IN THE GREATROOM. AT 2AM HE TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE AND THE NURSE CALLED THE DOCTOR. AFTER ANOTHER EXAMINATION AND CONSULTATION THE DOCTOR INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THAT COULD BE DONE SINCE HIS LUNGS WHERE BEGINNING TO STOP FUNCTIONING. I THEN, HAVING IN MIND THE PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE THAT GOD HAD GIVEN US ANIMALS FOR OUR COMPANSHIP AND LOVE BUT HAD ALSO BESTOWED ON US "DOMINION" OVER THEM LEAST THEY SUFFER NEEDLESSLY, MADE THE DECISION. HE DIED IN MY ARMS. FATHER ANGELITO CAME AT 7AM AND WE HAD A SUNRISE SERVICE FOR HIM. HE LAY IN STATE AT MEGAN'S CHAPEL FOR THE DAY WITH SOMEONE ALWAYS WITH HIM. FATHER ANGELITO CAME AT 6PM. WE HAD A BURIAL PROCESSION TO HIS GRAVE SITE AND LAID HIM TO REST FOR THE AGES. THEREAFTER WE HAD A DINNER TO CELEBRATE HIS BRILLIANCE, KINDNESS AND LOVE-GIVING LIFE. HE WAS THE GREATEST OF ALL MY GREAT DANES AND WILL LIVE ON IN THE MEMORY OF EVERYONE WHO EVER MET HIM. HIS TOMBSTONE WILL READ “BRANDENBERG FURTH, FRED’S BEST FRIEND. HE GAVE FRED MORE LOVING COMMANDS THAN FRED GAVE HIM DURING HIS WONDERFUL LIFE”. TAKE CARE MY FRIENDS, FRED.

THIS WAS THE ANCIENT ROUTE FOR RUSSIANS AND OTHER ASIANS--YES THIS PART OF RUSSIA IS IN ASIA....TO MIGRATE TO ALASKA AND BEYOND...WELL THE LAST TIME WE REPORTED WAS IN MOSCOW I THINK...WE LEFT MOSCOW AND FLEW TO YEKTERENGBURG FOR REFUELING...NOTHING SPECIAL ON THIS FLIGHT...THEN ON TO NOVOSIBIRSK WHERE WE OVERNIGHTED...IT WAS SELF SERVE ALL THE WAY AS 5 MEN STOOD AROUND WHILE WE SHLEPPED THE LUGGAGE....ACTUALLY IT IS GOOD EXERCISE BUT I MUST WARN ALL YOU APPLICANTS FOR THE NEXT TRIP THAT YOU SHOULD BE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE..ABLE TO LIVE ON 3 HOURS SLEEP..REMEMBER TO TAKE SOME NEWSPAPER WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO TO THE TOILET {NO. 2} AT THE NOVO AIRPORT...LIKE TO PIZZA AT 3AM IN THE ROOM AFTER TWO HAM SANDWHICHES IN THE PLANE....BUT ALL GREAT FUN TO DO..ONE GETS A GREAT SENSE OF ACCOMPOLISHMENT JUST GETTING THRU THE DAY AND DOING ALL THE LITTLE THINGS LIKE PILLING B TWICE A DAY...ANYWAY WE LEFT NOVO AND FLEW TO BRATSK FOR REFUELING THE NEXT DAY..HAD TO AVOID SOME HIGH LEVEL CBS AND TRS {FOR THE UNWASHED THOSE ARE CUMULIOUS NIMBUS BUILDUPS AND THUNDERSTORMS} ...11,100 METERS ALTITUDE..U FIGURE OUT THE FEET...METERS ARE USED IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION FOR AVIATION ALTITUDE...MADE ALL AOK...BRATSK IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL..A GIANT DAM HAS CREATED A LAKE WHICH IS WONDERFUL ..PICS WILL FOLLOW..WE ARE ON HOTEL WIFI AND CANNOT USE MY COMPUTER ... GREETINGS FROM MOSCOW...TOOK OFF FROM PARIS RIGHT ON TIME AT 8AM LOCAL TIME..EXPECTED A 2:15 FLIGHT TO WARSAW..ONE HOUR ON THE GROUND...AND A 2:00 HOUR FLIGHT TO MOSCOW...SO WHY DID WE ARRIVE IN MOSCOW AT 10PM...WELL THE FLIGHT TO WARSAW WAS UNEVENTFUL..WHEN WE LANDED OUR FARIS CO. AGENT SAID I HAD TO CALL UNIVERSAL IMMEDIATELY WHICH I DID TO FIND OUT THAT WE COULD NOT LAND AT VUKNOVO AIRPORT IN MOSCOW FOR UNDEFINED REASONS....WE HAD ALL PERMISSIONS AND PERMITS FROM THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION BUT ARGUMENT WAS TO NO AVAIL..THE GOOD NEWS WAS THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A NEW PERMIT TO LAND AT DONOVOOO AIRPORT NEAR MOSCOW AND SINCE THEY HAD ASKED FOR THE CHANGE IT WOULD ONLY TAKE 20 MINUTES....7 HOURS LATER AFTER WE CONVINCED BELARUS THAT IT WOULD BE THE SAME ROUTE AND WHY SHOULD THEY CARE SINCE I HAD AN OVERFLY PERMIT AND WOULD NOT BE LANDING IN THEIR NATION AND CONVINCED THE RUSSIAN THAT I WAS NOT GARY POWERS BROTHER ...WE TOOK OFF AND HAD A FINE FLIGHT TO MOSCOW AIRPORT UUDD....SINCE WE DID NOT GET TO THE HOTEL UNTIL 1AM WE ARE GOING TO STAY FRI NITE..IT IS 3:47PM THURS IN CAL AS I WRITE THIS AND 2:47 AM FRIDAY IN MOSCOW....WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF BEING WITH MEGAN SEVERAL TIMES IN MOSCOW..SHE LOVED THIS CITY AND THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE AND SO DO I...BRANDEN TOO..HE IS THE ULTIMATE GENTLEMEN IN CONTRAST TO HIS DAD...WE HAD EVERYONE AT THE AIRPORT COME AND SEE B, TAKE A PICTURE WITH HIM INCLUDING THE RICHEST MAN IN ISREAL WHO WAS ON HIS WAY MOSCOW-KAZAKSTAN.....HOPE ALL ARE WELL AND ENJOYING THE SUMMER...SATURDAY MY TIME WE FKY TO YEKERENGBURG THEN OVERNITE IN NOVOSBRISK....B SAYS HI TO ALL. Paris, June 20, 2007 – Frederick P. Furth, renowned attorney and a long-standing Cessna customer, will set off from the Paris Air Show tomorrow on a round-the-world flight in his new Citation Mustang. WELL, BAD NEWS ON THE WORLD TOUR.... WE ARE WELL HAPPY BUT VERY FRUSTRATED...AFTER 2 DAYS OF INTENSE NEGOTIATIONS THE RUSSIAN HAVE REFUSED TO ADMIT THE MUSTANG....THEY STATE MANY REASONS BUT I THINK THE CHIEF CONTROLLER IN RIGA HAS THE REAL ANSWER. ..HE WORKED VERY HARD TO HELP US INCLUDING TALKING TO THE RUSSIAN AIRSPACE MANAGER WHO IS A FRIEND OF HIS ...I LISTENED TO THE CALL WHICH LASTED ABOUT ONE HALF HOUR IN WHICH AFTER EXCHANGING PLEASANTRIES THEY GOT TO BUSINESS. GREETINGS FROM RIGA LATIVA..NOW HOW DID I GET HERE AND WHY AM I SPENDING MY SECOND NITE HERE...WELL WE FLEW FROM PARIS TO WARSAW UNEVENTFULLY AND AFTER THE USUAL SCREW UP BY UNIVERSAL REGARDING WHO WAS PAYING FOR THE FUEL...I WON UNIVERSAL PAID...WE TOOK OFF FOR MOSCOW...THE FLIGHT WAS VERY PLEASANT ..39,OOO FEET HUMMING ALONG AT 400 MILES PER HOUR WHEN....50 MILES FROM THE RUSSIAN FIR (AVIATION TALK FOR THE BORDER} MINSK CONTROL ANNOUNCED THAT WHILE THE PILOT AND DOG WERE ACCEPTABLE TO ENTER RUSSIA THE PLANE N4FF KLAHADELLA WAS NOT...AT FIRST THEY THOUGHT WE WERE A P51 WWII MUSTANG AND MILITARY PLANES MUST LOGICALLY BE APPROVED BY THE MILITARY....THEN WHEN I CONVINCED THEM WE ARE A PRIVATE JET THE NEW CESSNA CITATION MUSTANG THEY SAID OUR REGISTRATION WAS NOT CORRECT....I COULD GO ON BUT TO ANSWER THE QUESTION OF MINSK CONTROL AS TO WHAT I WANTED TO DO SINCE I WAS ALMOST AT THE FIR AND COULD NOT ENTER RUSSIAN AIR SPACE I IMMEDIATELY CONSULTED WITH MY CO-PILOT BRANDEN WHO SUGGESTED WISELY THAT WE BEGIN MAKING THREE SIXTYS IN THE SKY AT 390 SLOWTHE AIRPLANE DOWN AND PULL UP THE AREA MAP ON THE GARMIN 1000 WHICH SHOWS ALL THE COUNTRIES IN THE AREA. BALTIMORE-SEPT ISLE- IQALUIT- KEFLAVIK-PARIS

B AND I FLEW FROM BALTIMORE TO SEPT ISLE ON THURSDAY 7 JUNE WHERE WE FUELED AND TOOK OFF FOR THE LITTLE KNOWN NATION OF NUNAVUT NORTH OF THE ARCTIC CIRCLE. DAYS AND NIGHTS DO NOT MEAN MUCH WHEN THE SUN NEVER REALLY GOES DOWN. IT GETS GREY FOR A FEW HOURS BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND TWO AM BUT YOU DON'T NEED A FLASHLIGHT OR ANY LIGHTS TO GET AROUND.

I HAVE BEEN FLYING THROUGH IQALUIT FOR MANY YEARS, FORMERLY KNOWN AS FROBISHER BAY. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THERE TEN MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR IS BY PLANE SINCE THERE ARE NO ROADS OUT OF TOWN AND THE BAY FREEZES SOLID. THEY SAY THE ICE BREAKER SHIP CAN'T MAKE IT UP HERE THIS YEAR UNTIL THE END OF JULY OR EARLY AUGUST. THEY ARE ASSURED OF SIX WEEKS OF SHIPPING LANES BUT HOPE TO GET AN ADDITIONAL FEW WEEKS THIS YEAR IF THE ICE BREAKER WILL STAY AND KEEP THE LANES OPEN.

HOW BEAUTIFUL AND PRISTINE THE AIR IS AT NIGHT AND IN THE EARLY MORNING. BRANDEN AND I WENT FOR OUR USUAL WALK. IT IS SUCH A JOY TO BRING BRANDEN. IT IS SUCH A JOY TO SEE THE REACTION PEOPLE HAVE TO BRANDEN. IT BRINGS SO MUCH JOY IN TO THEIR LIVES AND THEREFOR JOY INTO MINE. HE IS UP TO 140LBS AND AT THE GEORGETOWN VET CLINIC WHERE HE WENT FOR HIS TEST AND PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS. I TRIED TO THINK WHY BRANDEN BRINGS SO MUCH JOY TO OTHERS. MY THOUGHT IS THAT HE IS JUST OVER SIZED THEN ANYTHING THEY EXPECT IN A DOG. HE IS LARGER AND GRANDER THAN WHAT ANYONE EXPECTS OF A DOG...AND PEOPLE NEED A BREAK FROM REALITY ONCE IN AWHILE. EVEN IF IT IS JUST IN THE FORM OF BRANDEN GIVING A KISS. HIS KISSES ARE ALSO OVER SIZED.

WE STAYED OVERNIGHT AT THA FROBISHER BAY INN WHERE BRANDEN WAS VERY WELCOME. SINCE WE GOT IN QUITE LATE WE DID NOT PLAN TO LEAVE ON FRIDAY 8 JUNE FOR SANDROSTROM GREENLAND UNTIL 1 PM IN THE AFTERNOON. THE SUN NEVER GOES DOWN THIS TIME OF YEAR AT SONDERSTROM SO IT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN YOU LEAVE FROM A DAY/NIGHT STANDPOINT.

I HAD TROUBLE WITH UNIVERSAL AVIATION AND AS A RESULT THE TAKE OFF TIME BECAME SO LATE THAT WE COULD NOT MAKE SONDERSTROM WHEN THEY WERE OPEN. I DECIDED TO SKIP SONDERSTROM SINCE THE WINDS WERE VERY FAVORABLE AND FLY DIRECTLY FROM IQALUIT TO KEY..DIRECTLY. NO PROBLEM ON THE FLIGHT. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN WHEN WE LANDED AND CUSTOMS ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO LET BRANDEN ENTER ICELAND EVEN IN TRANSIT. I KNOW THAT YOU ALL KNOW THAT THE AIRPLANE IS THE TERRITORY OF THE UNITED STATES AND THEREFORE HE CAN STAY IN THE AIRPLANE. HIS TEN HOUR BETWEEN PEE PEES CAME IN HANDY BUT SO DID A VERY NICE ICELANDER NEAR MY AGE WHO WAS OUR HANDLER. HE GOT US MOVED TO THE OLD UNITED STATES AIR FORCE BASE NOW ABANDON EXCEPT FOR MINOR USE BY THEIR TINY ICELANDIC AIR FORCE. HE WENT TO GET US FOOD AND SAID TO ME...WHAT CUSTOMS DON'T KNOW WON'T HURT THEM. I WILL BE GONE AND THERE IS NO ONE ELSE AROUND FOR MILES. BRANDEN GOT HIS EXERCISE ON THE AIR BASE AND WAS HAPPILY BACK ON US SOIL BACK IN THE AIRPLANE WHEN PEOPLE ARRIVED. WE SLEPT IN THE PLANE...QUITE COMFORTABLE ACTUALLY NOSE TO NOSE WITH BRANDEN TUCKING HIS LITTLE NOSE UNDERNEATH MY BIG CHIN OR WAS IT HIS BIG NOSE TUCKING UNDER MY LITTLE CHIN.

I DECIDED TO SKIP NORWAY AND FLY KEFLAVIK TO PARIS SINCE THE WINDS WERE PERFECT. EVERYTHING WAS GOING ALONG FINE UNTIL WE WERE APPROACHING THE UNITED KINGDOM LEAVING SCOTTISH TERRITORY AND THEY GAVE US SO CALLED .833 FREQUENCIES AND PILOTS WILL UNDERSTAND. AND WHEN WE COULDN'T BRING THEM UP THEY MADE US DESCEND TO 27000 FROM 39000 THE HIGHEST ALTITUDE PERMITTED IN EUROPE FOR PLANES UNEQUIPPED WITH .833 FREQUENCIES. HOWEVER WE ARE EQUIPPED WITH .833 FREQUENCIES BUT I HAD NOT BEEN BRIEFED ON THAT SUBJECT OR FORGOT IT AND THEREFORE WE LANDED AT LONDON'S LUTON AIRPORT FOR FUEL.

UPON LANDING I CALLED ROGER WHITE ONE OF THE TOP PEOPLE AT CESSNA WHO IS SPONSORING THIS TOUR AND THEY PROMPTLY GOT ME IN CONTACT WITH THE GARMEN 1000 EXPERT. IN LESS THAN TWO MINUTES WE CONVERTED KLAHADELLA I NAMED THE MUSTANG AFTER MY TWO LOVELY GRAND DAUGHTERS ADELE AND CLARA WHILE SLIGHTLY GERMANIZING AND ITALIANIZING THE NAME.

THE LONDON PARIS CORRIDOR IS AS BUSY AS THE WASHINGTON BOSTON CORRIDOR AND B AND I WORKED VERY HARD WITH ALL THE TWISTS AND TURNS BUT MADE IT TO PARIS ON TIME AND UNDER BUDGET.

THE CESSNA CITATION SERVICE CENTER AT PARIS LE BOURGET AIRPORT GAVE US A GRAND WELCOME. WE SHALL REST IN PARIS UNTIL MONDAY WHEN WE ARE OFF TO MOSCOW VIA WARSAW. KEEP THOSE PRAYERS COMING OUR WAY AS WE CROSS 6,000 MILES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION. - BRANDEN AND FRED

DEPARTURE FROM BALTIMORE

GREETINGS..TODAY THURS 7 JUNE BRANDEN AND I LEAVE FOR PARIS ON OUR WORLD TOUR IN THE NEW JET CESSNA CITATION SINGLE PILOT .
